Review: Guise’ Arc Sample by R. M. Simone’

Admittedly I don’t read a lot of books that are listed in the erotica section. Lately however, I have seen the name R.M. Simone pop up on my news feed across several different social media platforms. I decided it was time to take a look. Guise Arc Sample by R.M. Simone happened to be offered for free on Amazon.

The premise behind the storyline is fascinating. A female author is heading to a business meeting in an unusual building. It is unclear at this point whether the main character is supernatural or simply has an author’s imagination. She is however, very intune with her own spirituality. The author builds an intricate puzzle made out of pieces from different cultures, religions and beliefs to create a core spiritual presence for her main character and then connects that directly to her spirituality. While I like the concept and understand what the author is trying to convey to her readers, it is possible that anyone who has not been exposed to a similar belief system might find the wording a bit confusing.

The building in which the meeting is to take place is the Gherkin Building in London. The author provides a history lesson on the building including linking it to a bit of dabbling in black magics, dropping the ‘Masonic’ name as being connected. You won’t have to google images as they are included. Unfortunately, the placement of the pictures in the eBook version creates some formatting issues.

In the end, I was very surprised that there was nothing actually erotic about this novella.

As I haven’t read anything else by this author, I can only guess from the title that this is a prequel to a yet to be released trilogy. It reads very much as a prologue would, providing needed information for a main story. My main comment is the blurb on the Amazon site doesn’t portray what is actually being provided.

While I found it an interesting read, it simply wasn’t long enough and didn’t have enough character building for me to become vested in an entire series. I would however recommend it as a free download for anyone considering buying the ‘Guise’ Trilogy.

Since I never did answer my original questions about this author, I plan to try one of her other available books soon.
