Book Review: Morrigan’s Cross by Nora Roberts

This is an amazing book that was re-released in January 2016. It beautifully sets the scene for the love story and the coming together of six people to help save mankind from evil. This series really shows Nora’s ability to write a darker fantasy. Dealing with the fight to save mankind, there are losses that will tug at your heartstrings, and choices that deal with the fact that saving mankind has some costly consequences. The main evil is Lilith, a vampire queen devoted to conquering and destroying mankind. She is bloodthirsty and enjoys toying with the circle in order to get her wicked way. Morrigan gives the task of protecting mankind and destroying Lilith to Hoyt, asking him to gather a circle of six. The circle consists of himself, the witch, the warrior, the scholar, the one of many forms, and the one he’s lost.

Book Review: Waterfall by Lisa T. Berge

What do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?

Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives among the romantic hills with their archaeologist parents. Stuck among the rubble of medieval castles in rural Tuscany on yet another hot, dusty archeological site, Gabi and Lia are bored out of their minds until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces.

Suddenly Gabi’s summer in Italy is much, much more interesting.

-back cover of Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren.

This is one of the few books that I feel has something for everyone. It has action, romance, a pinch of fantasy, and a strong family element.

Book Review: Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep

I am not going to lie. I was excited for the next installment in what has to be my favorite female lead character series. Gin Blanco runs the best little barbeque pit in Ashland. An Elemental Assassin trained by the best, she has faced many enemies but none that have challenged the bond that Gin has taken for granted. Since taking down Mab, Gin finds herself as one of the leading powers in Ashland but not even her silverstone knives can save her from the heartbreak of betrayal from one of her own.
